An Era Ends

walksideways.com, "The starting point for all Tech students" since November 1999 has shut down.

The hosting provider that walksideways.com used (astro-space.com) suffered a crash and much of the site was completely lost. Several factors have impacted the decision not to rebuild: the founders graduated in May 2003 and have moved on, the backups include only about 75% of the site and significant work would be required to bring it back to life, and the rising of the new GT portal (buzzport.gatech.edu) and of CyberBuzz make walksideways.com no longer necessary.

When walksideways.com started, Tech had no student portal presence on the web. Much has changed in four and a half years. We hope you found the site useful, and we wish you the best as you continue at Georgia Tech or as alumni.

mail@walksideways.com addresses will continue to remain available and accessible over the web for existing subscribers. The service is privately run by Everyone.Net and was not largely affected by the crash on the main web site's server.
